Mission Statement

The mission of the Tax Collector’s Office is to collect all taxes, interest and fees due the Town of Sherman, and to properly account for them in a timely manner.

In addition, the Tax Collector’s Office applies all state statutes and local ordinances equally, without favoritism or prejudice to its citizens, while instilling a high level of integrity and confidence.

A Jurisdiction Code of 1703 is needed for all credit card payments.



When using either of these vehicles for payment, have a copy of your tax bill available. Information from you bill is needed for processing.

The grand list year begins October 1st and billed the following July 1st and January 1st respectively.

Real Estate and Personal Property taxes over $100.00 are billed in two equal installments, the first half due July 1st and the second half due January 1st of the following year.

All Motor Vehicle Taxes, including Real Estate and Personal Property bills under $100.00, are payable in-full July 1st.

Interest is applied the first of each month on all unpaid bills at a rate of 18% annually, reverting back to the due date.
