FISH, Friends In Service Here, is a group of your neighbors who wish to express their love and concern for their neighbors by providing the following services on a volunteer basis.

Transportation to medical and therapy appointments.
Loan of health care equipment.

Republican Town Committee

Mission

The Sherman Republican Town Committee believes in small, efficient, and cost-effective government.  We value Sherman’s strong tradition of self-reliance, volunteerism, and the concept of neighbors helping neighbors.  We want all aspects of Town government to be open and inclusive.

 

We support quality education for our youth and efforts to preserve Sherman’s rural character along with its community-oriented lifestyle.

 

The Sherman Republican Committee is open to all who want to keep Sherman the Number One Small Town in Connecticut.  We welcome everyone who wants to help guide growth and development in Sherman so all will benefit.

 

Mission

The Sherman Republican Committee raises funds to enable a Sherman student to attend the Week on Washington (WOW) program sponsored by the Connecticut Republicans.  One high school junior is selected each year on a non-partisan basis to spend a week in Washington, D.D., and learn about our government and public policy.

Naromi Land Trust

Mission

Naromi Land Trust is a volunteer organization incorporated to serve the people of Sherman, Connecticut, by fostering preservation of the Town’s natural resources.

 

Naromi:

  • Protects land by ownership, management, and/or conservation easement in perpetuity.
  • Seeks to protect open spaces, farmlands, ridges, and scenic vistas that define Sherman’s character.
  • Establishes and maintains wildlife sanctuaries to protect plant and animal habitats.
  • Helps people to understand the value of protecting land and gives them access to its preserves for activities in harmony with its conservation goals.
  • Seeks to advise and work with Sherman’s other organizations, as well as its public agencies.

Additional Information

Troop 48 meets every Monday night at 7:00 at the scout house next to Mallory Town Hall.  All boys from 6th grade through the age 018 are welcome to join.  Parents are encouraged to participate as well.



Sherman Chamber Ensemble

Mission

The mission of the Sherman Chamber Ensemble is to bring world-class musicians to our communities and schools to perform a diverse range of music in a way that is intimate and inclusive.  For over 25 years, SCE has presented a summer season of world-class professional chamber music concerts in Sherman (in recent years at the Lake Mauweehoo Clubhouse) and environs.  Its performances now extend to include annual free jazz-inspired concerts over Thanksgiving weekend, bluegrass jamborees, pop/rock coffeehouses, educational yet entertaining workshops and concerts for young people, and frequent appearances at area venues such as the Jewish Community Center in Sherman and the Pawling (NY) Concert Series.  Annual educational programs at the Sherman School have included two major “Song to Symphony” productions, in 2002 and 2006, and other classroom residencies and assembly programs.

Local residents are invited to join the ranks of the many volunteers who serve on SCE’s Board of Directors, help out at concerts, host receptions and fund-raising events, sell program ads, and more.

The Sherman Chamber Ensemble is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and is supported in large part by donations from individuals, businesses, foundations, and government grants (including the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism).

The Sherman Church

Mission

To know Christ and make Him known.

The Sherman Church is a member of the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference (CCCC), a national association of evangelical Congregational churches.

Sherman Higher Education Fund, Inc.

Mission

A community organization available to anyone who resides in Sherman, the Sherman Higher Education Fund is dedicated to helping young people and adults in pursuit of higher education by providing financial assistance through grants and loans.

The organization is funded through tax-deductible donations and fund-raising activities, such as direct appeals and the annual plant and bake sale. SHEF also receives a percentage of the proceeds from the annual Sherman Art Show.

Sherman Historical Society, Inc.

Mission

A local history museum, private and not-for-profit, the Society supports the David Northrop House (c. 1829) and the Old Store Museum and Gift Shop (c. 1810) located in Sherman Center.
